Software Engineer — Full Stack
About the role
As a Software Engineer at AlgoDomain, you'll work as an embedded member of a client engineering team on enterprise software programmes. Our engineers are expected to contribute fully — designing solutions, writing production-quality code, reviewing others' work, and participating in technical and delivery decisions alongside client engineers and architects.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in a corner and write tickets. The expectation is that you're technically strong, communicate clearly, and can operate confidently in environments where you don't control all the variables — existing codebases, third-party integrations, organisational constraints. If you find that interesting rather than frustrating, you'll fit well here.
What you'll work on
The specific work varies by engagement. Depending on the programme you're placed on, you might be:
- Building new Java Spring Boot microservices as part of a monolith decomposition
- Adding API capabilities to an existing platform to support a new digital product
- Building React or Angular frontends for enterprise internal applications
- Contributing to infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines alongside a DevOps engineer
- Writing automated tests to build coverage on a legacy codebase
Most engagements are 6–24 months. You'll typically work on one primary engagement at a time with occasional involvement in discovery work for upcoming programmes.
Responsibilities
- Design and build software components within the scope of the engagement
- Participate in code review — both reviewing others' work and receiving reviews on your own
- Write unit, integration, and where applicable contract tests for the code you produce
- Collaborate with client engineers, architects, and product managers
- Document technical decisions and architecture clearly
- Raise technical risks early rather than managing them privately
- Contribute to AlgoDomain's internal engineering practice through tech talks and guild participation
Requirements
- 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, or Node.js)
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs
- Familiarity with SQL databases and data modelling
- Understanding of CI/CD practices and version control with Git
- Experience writing automated tests (unit and integration)
- Clear written and verbal communication — you'll write design documents and participate in technical discussions with clients
Nice to have
- Experience with Java / Spring Boot in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- React or Angular experience for frontend-capable engineers
- Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare)
How to apply
Send your CV and a brief note about yourself to careers@algodomain.com with the subject line "Application: Software Engineer — Full Stack".
Tell us what you've worked on recently, what you found technically interesting about it, and what kind of work you're looking for. We don't require a cover letter in the traditional sense — a short honest paragraph is more useful than a formal letter.
We respond to all applications. Our process is: initial call (30 minutes), technical discussion (60 minutes, focused on a real-world problem rather than whiteboard algorithms), and a final conversation with a delivery lead. No take-home tests of more than 2 hours.
